Teachers Education: continuing education courses for in-service high school science teachers (a total of 35 in-service teachers were enrolled in a course on January, 2019 at USP-School course); pre-service teachers activities - an experiment class program was offered to circa 60 high school students from the public school Derville Allegreti in São Paulo-SP. The program consisted of four 60 minute experiments created and performed by a cohort of 20 undergrad students attending their pre-service teacher degree course. This a regular activity offered annually from August to December
LabVivo – it is a merging between extension and undergraduation course. It is a online, 8 h course for high school students from the public educational system. The course aim at debunking fake news. It is based on the "crossed formation pathways" strategy, in which undergrad students prepare the course as part of their initial teacher training. The program had 192 attendees in courses prepared by 51 undergraduate students on its past editions.
The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Summer Course is an annual program run by the Biochemistry Department at IQ-USP. It is a 80 h course for Brazilian undergraduate students and it is a showcase of the Biochemistry Dept labs and facilities while providing training on state of the art experimental research approaches. Graduate students create the course and act as teachers. The last edition enrolled 200 attendees.
Residência Pedagógica (RP) Chemistry sub-project funded by Capes. The RP aims to: encourage the training of higher-level teachers for basic education, leading the student-teachers to actively exercise the relationship between theory and professional teaching practice; and strengthen and expand the relationship between higher education institutions and public schools of basic education for the initial training of basic education teachers; and strengthen the role of education networks in the training of future teachers. The programs developed by RP are:
